Thornicroft Lodge offers several activities. Game
drives are included in the package. All other activities can be arranged
with your booking or most of the time during your stay in Thornicroft
Lodge.
Game drives (also
called safari):
Most people who visit Africa are attracted by the
adventure of a safari in unspoiled nature, in between all the animals
they watched on TV. Thornicroft Lodge is the start of your African
adventure.
The morning safaris start at 6.00 am and return in
the lodge around 10.00 o clock. The night safari leaves at 4.00 pm and
around 8 pm you are back in the lodge for diner.
Our experienced guides drive you
in our specially modified 4x4's
through the national park and try to
show you all you hope to see during your safari. They like to share
their knowledge about flora and fauna with their guests.
Walking safaris
On request you can do a walking safari or a
combination of walking and driving.
You can arrange the walking safari with your
booking or at least one day in advance, because we need to hire an
additional scout for this activity. We recommend to wear good (hiking)
shoes.
Visit Tribal Textile
The lodge also offers a visit to the Tribal
Textile workshop.
Next to the workshop the local people have their handy craft "shops"
with woodcarving, reed baskets and other local arts.
Visit Kawaza Village
Kawaza Village is
home to villagers of the Kunda tribe. Kawaza offers travellers the
opportunity to visit a genuine Zambian rural village and to get involved
with local people and village life. Kawaza is a unique experience for
travellers to Zambia. As such it is the winner of the prestigious Silver
Otter Award, given to the Best Overseas Tourism Project by the British
Guild of Travel Writers.
The Personal Touch
To complement the safari experience and the “back to nature” feeling for
the safari guest, The
Personal Touch is
proud to offer a variety of holistic massage and Spa
therapies in
the Luangwa Valley. A range of quality (massage) treatments is available
and carried out in the privacy of your lodge’s relaxed surroundings. Or
even better; continue your game-viewing while visiting the Bush-Spa
inside the South Luangwa National Park!
Right here in the bush of Mfuwe, there’s a myriad of various massages
and Spa treatments on offer. Some are traditional favourites that you
will find practiced the world over, whilst others are original fusions
of them, adapted and suited for pure relaxation in
the bush!
